Daniel L. McCune

Daniel L. McCune was born and raised in Weirton, West Virginia. He attended Madonna High School and one post-graduate year at the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island. Thereafter, Mr. McCune received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University in 1985. He received his Juris Doctor from West Virginia University College of Law in 1989 and was President of the Marlyn E. Lugar Trial Association. Mr. McCune was also awarded the Order of the Barristers for Excellence in Trial Advocacy in addition to being a member of the College of Law’s National Moot Court (Appellate Advocacy) competition squad.

Mr. McCune has served on the Board of Governors of the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (West Virginia Association for Justice). He is also an active member of the Hancock County Bar Association. Mr. McCune is licensed to practice before the Courts of West Virginia and Pennsylvania, as well as the United States District and Federal Appeals Courts. He has argued cases in front of the West Virginia Supreme Court and the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The emphasis of Mr. McCune’s practice is civil litigation on behalf of personal injury victims, including victims of nursing home abuse and neglect including such negligence as the development of pressure ulcers. He also maintains an active DUI and criminal defense practice including drug cases.

For 15 years, Mr. McCune has been an Officer on the Board of Directors at the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop, a facility that provides direct employment and supportive employment opportunities for developmentally disabled Hancock County citizens. He served for several years on the school board for his alma mater, Madonna High School, where he was recently inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. Mr. McCune has coached youth sports for many years in the Weirton area and currently coaches JV basketball at St. Joseph the Worker Grade School. Mr. McCune and his wife, Patricia, have been married since 1989. They have two children who both attend Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
